OK Breathe...

Rich sent me the following e-mail in response to my stress about selling our house:

Yeah. I'm thinking of this very much the way I thought about my job search. Our goal (and Helen's goal) is to make sure that all the realtors and serious home buyers in the area know that this place is on the market, what we want for it, and what it's all about. The ads and open houses are making that happen. Once "the word is out" it's a little out of our control until we get nibbles. Then once we get nibbles it's up to Helen to convert at least one of those to a sale. So I think we're doing the right stuff now. And I think a period of uncomfortable waiting is ahead of us.
In other words
Step 1: Open House
Step 2: (shrug)
Step 3: Profit!

I really do feel better now.

Hey...it worked for us! Almost exactly like that...except for the thousands of dollars of home repairs and countless hours agonizing by Pam to get the house in show shape and countless hours I spent the week it went on the market with her out of town keeping it that way...

And it sold the first week despite torrential rain and a muddy sopping driveway the day of the open house before the contractor came back and did it right.

Yep. We spent a good chunk o' change getting it in 'show shape.'

I just can't believe the competition around here. But it's a very special unit. And somebody will love it like we do.
