Baby Talk

Eric's verbal skills are a few months behind his comprehension. He has way more complex thoughts than he can express, and when he gets upset his verbal skills abandon him.

This morning I thought he was yelling something about a chair and his knee. Did he want to sit on a chair on his knee? Did he want to sit on his knees on me while in I sit in a chair? Toddlers have very specific requests. Finally I sat on the floor with him and he kept getting more and more upset. "I want mommy to chair on the knee!!" I thought he kept saying.

But I'm an idiot. He was saying "Kiss" not "Chair." All that fuss and he was asking for a kiss on the knee. So, I kissed his knee and he was all smiles.
