Last year when Eric was barely two months old, I took him from his fathers arms so he wouldn't witness the Redsox getting their butts kicked by the yankees once again.

This year I almost woke him from a sound sleep at midnight so he could witness history.

That being said, in general I HATE all professional spectator sports. Even though I have been a very serious horseback rider at various points in my life, I find it rather dull to watch equestrian sports on TV. However, growing up in Boston I can't help but get caught up in the Redsox Yankees rivalry. I also feel like it's somehow karmically linked to the election, especially if the Astros win tonight. How weird is that? I keep feeling like if the Redsox pull this off we can get rid of Bush as a reward. I know, I'm a big FREAK.

Anyhow, Eric is doing well. I have such a hard time getting him to eat anything but about four foods. Plus there's so much he'll only eat if it's hot, there's not much I can send him off to school with. But last night he ate some Annie's macaroni and cheese. Probably not the healthiest thing out there, but it's a start. He's very touch and go on the pasta. Some nights he loves it. Others he spits it out with a raspberry and a flourish.

Rich is off to Syracuse on Tuesday night. I keep thinking that this may be his first and only interview in this process. It would be just like him to zero in on his dream job and get it on the first try. I'm still weirded out by the thought of moving, but I'm getting kind of excited. My uncle lived there in the '80's and he had this to say about it:

"really like Syracuse. Still do. It has a dastardly long winter so you must factor in warm destinations--especially in March.

It has some gorgeous housing stock. Now an exciting downtown. Lots of art films (and commercial ones. . . I know, I know). A great museum. Some of the best Italian grocery stores that I know of. One of the best (and oldest) farmer's markets in the U.S. And some really good people. You'll meet your own kind. And it's close to Ithaca.

Funny, I've been daydreaming about it. If I could get a full-time teaching job there, I'd go back without hesitation. "

The 'dastardly long winter' could be a problem, but if I wasn't working, I could spend a few extra days in Florida or whatever. I think the weirdest part for me would be planning on not working. I've been working for so many years now, making my own money. Being dependent on somebody that's not my parents is scary. I totally trust my husband not to be a dick about money, but I won't be able to spend $100 on chick-lit novels without checking with him. Or maybe he'll give me an allowance.
