Baby's Day Off

Kaylee woke up yesterday with puffy eyes. I thought I was imagining it when Rich didn't see anything amiss. Then he woke me up from my nap yesterday afternoonand said he was worried about all the eye boogers oozing out of her. Hmmm... One phone call to the doctor and a little tube of antibiotic goo later, we are fighting a run of the mill case of CONJUNCTIVITIS!

She's pretty cranky and fights the little tube of goo with the fierce will of a gladiator. But her eyes definitely look better from last night, so I think some must be getting in there while she's thrashing. Now, we're watching a little Sesame Street. She was mesmerized by it, just like I was at her age.

She has been so cranky today! She's not rubbing at her eyes, so I think it's just causing a general malaise. Poor boo.

Progress: A Bit

He finished his dinner tonight. For the first time in over a week.

Perhaps all these vitamins are starting to work. My fingers are crossed. He says his stomach still hurts the same, but the only real barometer I have is how much he eats. If he won't eat, it's pretty bad. If he eats, it's getting better.

We had a surprisingly good day, all things considered. My sister, her boyfriend and my niece came over to babysit last night while Rich and I went to his office party. They had a scavenger hunt at the Aquarium, which was actually really fun. Usually I hate that kind of phony baloney team building stuff. Just let us eat our free food, make small talk with people I won't see again until next year! But I actually really dig scavenger hunts. We didn't win, which I was surprised about. But I had such a good time that it didn't matter. It turned out that we were supposed to cheat. This never occurred to me.

So, we got home and I went to check on E and he was crashed, and my niece (who falls asleep LATE) was on his floor in her sleeping bag in her nighty. "Hi Margaret!"

"Hey Z. Do you want to have a sleepover?"

"Yeah!"

So my sister and D went home and Rich and I crashed, exhausted. Then sometime before 5:00 AM I heard them giggling in there. He was so excited that she was there, that he was up for the day at 5:00. And because she is AWESOME, she read to him and played with him in his room until Rich got up at 7. Yes, she is the worlds coolest nine year old that ever roamed the earth. They played all morning until my sister came and scooped her up around noon. Ironically SHE took an afternoon nap and Eric didn't.

But he was fine. Usually after an early start like that, he's a maniac by two. He was a little grumpier than usual. But it was a much better day than I expected.

But it's 6:30 and they're both in bed. That's kind of nice.
